The 19 channels

Business development

Partnerships and integrations that put you inside someone else’s product.

What it is

One of the 19 traction channels. S3 Bob Moore’s definition of ecosystem-led growth: leveraging the data or relationships from your partner ecosystem to generate more leads, close more business, or grow your customers, where the initiative could not have succeeded without the ecosystem. S14

When it works

When a small number of overlapping ecosystems does the work. Across 19,000 companies on Crossbeam the typical partner count is seven to nine, and even enterprises count partners in tens, not hundreds. S14 Ecosystem marketing is one of the emerging areas Poyar names for B2B. S24

What it needs from the product

A surface a partner can attach to: an API, or an integrations directory. And a person, because partnership work is sustained relationship maintenance, not a launch.

How it decays

Partner platforms are platforms. Policy and fee changes, API restrictions and account bans are all named categories of platform risk. S22

What the report checks

The capacity gate needs a small team. The structure gate looks for an API surface or an integrations directory. If those routes could not be checked, the report says so.
